A110 is quickly becoming the foundation female for our herd. This maternal sister to the late great HPCA Veracious has been a great donor for our program. Our first embryo crop of hers are Fall 2023 models and every calf has far exceeded our expectations. We sold the very powerful Athena 442 daughter back out to Hinkle’s in Missouri and retained the very impressive Athena 63 daughter for our donor pen. Needless to say, we are very excited for what the future holds for this Cow! We have taken full advantage of this cow’s fertility through IVF and filled our tank with various embryos. Our second calf crop from A110 is expected to start hitting the ground this July with sires such as Poss Ultra, Poss Ratified, GAR Powercat, and GB Fireside.

One of only two Athena daughters bred and born here, 63 is one that we are very excited about. This Ratified daughter has a little bit of everything from growth, to maternal, to carcass. We were blessed with the opportunity to sell two of her flush-mate brothers in Hinkle’s Prime Cut Angus production sales for $14,500 and $8,000 respectively. As mentioned above, we also were able to sell 63’s flush-mate sister, 442, back to the Hinkle program. We’ve been able to flush this female three separate times gaining 13 embryos total. Those will be inserted this coming fall. Currently, 63 is pregnant with her first calf, which is expected around the end of September. Keep an eye out for this Athena line because it’s just now getting started!

R1863 was purchased as a Heifer Sexed Embryo Pregnancy in the 2023 Genetic Allies Sale in LaSalle, IL. For a long time we had been wanting to add an Isabel female to the herd in hopes of achieving more maternal power. We sure feel like we hit the jackpot by pulling the trigger on this female. When driving through the pastures, this heifer is always the first to catch our eye. Love her look and disposition, and can’t go wrong with the pedigree and EPDs. The performance data alone was enough to throw her into the donor pen. We successfully flushed this female twice gaining 13 embryos. Towards the middle of August, she should be having a calf out of HPCA Veracious, one that we are very anxiously awaiting. Keep an eye on this girl. We are very excited and hold high expectations for her.

She may not have the flashiest set of EPDs on the place or a pedigree that stands out, but believe us when we say that Ashley is one of the most impressive females we have ever raised. For the longest time, we had thought J209 was a product of the A110 Athena x Poss Ratified flush, which would have explained the explosive growth this heifer had. It wasn’t until we sent blood off for parentage did we realize this was actually a bull-bred calf that was just born early. These Alpha J131 calves have blown our expectations away as far as growth performance. A great example of this is J209’s paternal brother, GAJ Maximus 065. Both of these two individuals were bull-bred clean-up calves who competed with, and outgrew an absolutely stacked group of Embryo and Ai calves. For that reason and that reason alone, we have selected Ashley as a donor female. We have successfully flushed her once gaining 13 embryos. This female fully embodies what we are trying to achieve here at Gajewski Farms: Performance driven cattle backed by real-world data to make the Commercial man more money.
